Mirzan Mahathir was name in an Indian court affidavit in Andhra Pradesh high court.
Mirzan is the son of the former prime minister of Malaysia Tun Mahathir. He was quoted in the 2000 page document in the case where his company had obtained the project to expand the deep water port in 1999. Incidently Matahir was still the PM of Malaysia at that time.
The project awarded was on Develop- Operate and Transfer basis, where the company was given 18 months to build two more berths at Kakinada port, the second largest port at Andhra Pradesh.
The consortium did not fulfill his commitment and the berth construction started only in 2004. Due to the delay the state was quote to have loss considerable amount.
