The public and the majority of the MPs, including the backbenchers of the ruling BN are against the proposed increase of the tolls. Lately, Malaysian are feeling the heat due to the increasing cost of living. The price of petrol had recently increased by rm0.20, followed by the increase of the electricity bill. In 2015, the new GST tax will be imposed.
As if the above are not enough, the government is think ou increase to tolls.

The BN manifesto for the recent General Election, include the promise to reduce the intercity tolls. It certainly come as a surprise when the talk is about increasing the tolls. The chairman for the beackbenchers said that the members are strongly against the increase, as it was part of the manifesto used to woo the voters in the last election.
